WAC: Western Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals

Championship Week 2006
Western Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals: No. 1 Nevada rolled over No. 9 Idaho 88-56. Only one starter played more than 20 minutes for the Wolf Pack, who should be well-rested for tomorrow’s game against No. 4 Utah State. The Aggies beat No. 5 Hawaii 73-70. Jaycee Carroll had 24 points and 13 rebounds for Utah State. Coby Karl, the son of Nuggets’ coach George Karl, sparked a 14-point second-half comeback for No. 6 Boise State, who beat No. 3 Fresno State 78-73. The younger Karl had 11 of 13 points in the second half, hit five free throws in the final minute of the game and came up with a clutch steal. Fresno State’s leading scorer, Quinton Hosley, was ejected for throwing an elbow at Karl. Reggie Wayne and Seth Robinson both had double-doubles for the Broncos. Host No. 2 New Mexico State will play Boise State, as they beat No. 7 Louisiana Tech 77-70 behind Tyrone Nelson’s season-high 26 points. [3/08/07]
