Pac-10 Conference Tournament Quarterfinals: No. 1 UCLA, who had been looking at a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, was shocked by the No. 8 Cal Bears 76-69 in overtime. Ayinde Ubaka had a career-high 29 points, eight of them in overtime. Cal had a 37-25 lead at halftime, but UCLA clawed back to tie the game at 61 at the end of regulation. However, Cal simply overwhelmed the Bruins in OT, outscoring them 15-8. Darren Collison had 20 points for UCLA.

No. 4 Oregon easily took care of No. 5 Arizona behind Tajuan Porter’s 21 points. Porter and star Oregon guard Aaron Brooks combined for nine three-pointers. Jordan Hill had a double-double for the Wildcats with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Cal and Oregon will play tomorrow.

No. 3 USC trailed No. 6 Stanford by 11 at halftime but came back to beat the Cardinal in overtime 83-79. Nick Young led the Trojans with 26 points and Taj Gibson chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Taylor Rochestie had 20 points and Derrick Low had 15 to lead No. 2 Washington State over in-state rival No. 7 Washington 74-64. Quincy Pondexter had 15 points and eight rebounds – six of them offensive – for the Huskies. [3/08/07]
