Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Championship: No. 1 North Carolina beat No. 10 North Carolina State 89-80 to win the ACC championship and complete its case for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels ended the Wolfpack’s great run in the conference tournament. North Carolina State gave North Carolina all it could handle, tightening a double-digit deficit to three points. The Tar Heels used an 18-4 run to the first half and start the second to open a 14-point lead. But the Wolfpack whittled away, but they could pull no closer than three. The Tar Heels held off North Carolina State by draining free throws. They were a nearly perfect 23-of-24 from the line, including 11 from Tyler Hansbrough, who scored 15 points in his best game since breaking his nose.
