Big East Conference Tournament Championship: No. 1 Georgetown demolished No. 3 Pittsburgh 65-42 to claim the Big East championship. Jeff Green led the Hoyas with 21 points, and Roy Hibbert added 18, including 14 points in the first half. The Hoyas came out ready to stomp the Panthers, using a 15-2 run in the first half to build a lead that grew throughout the game. Pittsburgh couldn’t handle Georgetown’s disciplined defense, shooting just 26.2 percent from the field. Hibbert outplayed Aaron Gray, who scored only three points on 1-of-13 shooting. [3/10/07]
