Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship: No. 2 UNLV delighted its fans at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas with a 78-70 come-from-behind victory against No. 1 BYU in the Mountain West Conference Tournament championship. Michael Umeh led the Runnin’ Rebels with 18 points, as UNLV came back from a 13-point first-half deficit. The Rebels hit only one shot in the first six minutes, allowing the Cougars to build a 16-3 lead. But UNLV outscored BYU 52-33 in the second half to dominate the final 20 minutes and claim the conference’s automatic bid to the tournament. [3/10/07]
