Second Round [3/18/07]

East Region – Second Round: No. 5 USC manhandled No. 4 Texas 87-68 to move into the Sweet 16 against No. 1 North Carolina, possibly ending the collegiate career of the Longhorns’ Kevin Durant with a loss. The freshman superstar scored 30 points and had nine rebounds. But he often seemed to be the only Longhorn capable of keeping Texas in the game. Sophomore A.J. Abrams added 20, but he was the only other Texas player to reach double figures. In contrast, the Trojans were clearly the better team as five players scored at least 10 points, led by junior Nick Young’s 22 points. Freshman Taj Gibson had a dominant game inside with 17 points and 14 rebounds. [3/18/07]
