LSU: Big Baby Steps Up to the NBA

Big Baby Steps Up to the NBA: LSU star center Glen “Big Baby” Davis will forgo his last year of college eligibility and enter the upcoming NBA draft in June. The 290-pound, 6-9 Davis, last year’s SEC Player of the Year when LSU made the Final Four, said at a Tuesday news conference that the time is right for the move. He averaged 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds in 29 games this season, but his Tigers failed to make the NCAA tournament or the NIT after finishing 17-15 overall, 5-11 in conference play. NBA scouts’ concerns with Davis, the only LSU player other than Shaquille O’Neal to surpass 1,500 points, 900 rebounds and 100 blocks in his career, will likely involve his weight, which could take a big toll on his knees.
