Arkansas Hires South Alabama’s Pelphrey: The Arkansas Razorbacks have hired former South Alabama coach John Pelphrey to fill their vacant head coaching position. Pelphrey, 38, has gone 44-19 the past two seasons at South Alabama, reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2006. The Pelphrey hiring comes after Creighton coach Dana Altman accepted and then turned down the job. Former coach Stan Heath was 82-71 in five years at Arkansas. [4/08/07]
