Akron Coach Given Extension: Keith Dambrot, who guided Akron to a school record-tying 26 wins this past season, was given a seven-year contract extension. Dambrot’s new deal keeps him at the school until at least 2014. The Zips’ record has improved each year under Dambrot, culminating in a MAC East championship this past season. Dambrot, who coached LeBron James at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s in Akron, was unable to guide the Zips to the post-season last year after they were defeated on a banked three-pointer as time expired in the MAC championship game against Miami, Ohio.
