Utah Coach Gives Freshman a Chance, Then the Boot: New Utah coach Jim Boylen dismissed forward Daniel Deane from the team for academic reasons. Boylen, hired in March to replace Ray Giacoletti, said he gave Deane an opportunity to rectify his ways, but the freshman chose not to do so, leading to his release. Deane averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 29 games this past season. [5/5/07]
