Williams Gets Extension From Tar Heels: North Carolina gave coach Roy Williams a four-year contract extension, signing the future Hall-of-Famer through the 2014-15 season. Williams, the fastest coach in NCAA history to reach 500 career wins, said he was excited about the new deal, which could pay him as much as $1.8 million per year. He has a 106-30 record in four seasons with the Tar Heels and won the 2005 national championship. Last season, the 56-year-old Williams led North Carolina to a 31-7 regular-season record before losing to Georgetown in the East Regional Final. [5/18/07]
