Loyola Rewards Coach With Extension: Loyola of Chicago gave coach Jim Whitesell a contract extension through the 2011-12 season, rewarding him for the Ramblers’ first 20-win season in more than 20 years. Whitesell led Loyola to a 21-11 record last season and a third-place finish in the Horizon League. He also made the school into a defensive power, holding opponents to 64.8 points per game. The 47-year-old Whitesell has a 53-39 record in three seasons at the helm, including a 19-11 record in 2005-06. [5/22/07]
