Hawes to Leave Washington for the NBA: After a subpar season and much deliberation, freshman Spencer Hawes decided to leave Washington and enter the NBA Draft, leaving the Huskies after only one season. Hawes failed to live up to the expectations placed on him as one of the most talented recruits in Washington’s school history. He struggled with injury and illness throughout the season, but he caught the eye of NBA scouts with his size, fundamentals and ball-handling skills. Hawes expects to be a lottery pick and will attend the draft on June 28. [6/18/07]
