Cardinal Center Has Heart Surgery: Louisville freshman center Clarence Holloway had open heart surgery to treat a problem in the wall of his aorta and aortic valve. Doctors identified the problem during a routine physical exam last week and followed through with the procedure in 24 hours. Holloway, a 7-1 center from Chicago, was not participating in team events while waiting for the NCAA Clearinghouse to grant him eligibility for the upcoming season. Because of the open heart surgery, Holloway will miss the entire upcoming season to ensure a full recovery. He averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior in high school last season.
