Bear Must Wait to Start Season: California sophomore point guard Jerome Randle will miss the first few weeks of the season while he recovers from a biopsy on his kidney. Doctors noticed an abnormality in a routine blood test, and they decided to schedule a biopsy to identify any problems. The Golden Bears expect Randle to contend for a starting position after he averaged 6.5 points and 2.8 assists per game last season. California will start the season without Randle, freshman forward Omondi Amoke and junior forward Theo Robertson. [10/30/07]
