Georgia: Georgia’s Humphrey Suspended for Possession of Knife

Georgia’s Humphrey Suspended for Possession of Knife: Georgia guard Billy Humphrey has been indefinitely suspended following his arrest Tuesday for possession of a weapon on school property. The arrest occurred after police found a knife in the junior’s room during a search. The knife, Humphrey said, was a souvenir from a trip to South America. Humphrey’s lawyer, Kim Stephens, is looking to have the charge dismissed. The Bulldogs, who played Grambling State Wednesday night, had already dismissed senior forward Takais Brown for violating team rules and suspended sophomores Mike Mercer and Albert Jackson for violating academic policies. Humphrey, who averaged 7.5 points last season, was released on a $5,000 bond and was not immediately available for comment. [11/15/07]
