16 Teams to Play in College Basketball Invitational: The Gazelle Group will stage the College Basketball Invitational in March 2008, an event to include 16 teams picked on a basis of overall and
conference records and late-season play. The competition will add to the NCAA and NIT tournaments. There will be four geographical brackets and single-elimination games through the first two rounds and the semifinals. The championship series will be a best-of-three, with the higher-seeded team playing at
home in game one and, if necessary, game three. The first round is scheduled for March 18-19. The championship series will be March 31, April 2 and, if necessary, April 4. [11/16/07]
