Smith Becomes Million-Dollar Gopher: Minnesota and coach Tubby Smith have reached agreement on a seven-year contract that will pay Smith $1.75 million per year. The former Kentucky coach arrived in Minneapolis in March to resurrect the Gophers program. So far, Minnesota is 6-1, with the lone loss coming at Florida State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Smith’s new contract includes several incentives for winning the national championship, conference regular-season title or a bid to the NCAA Tournament. [12/11/07]
