Canadian Schools Can Compete in Division II: NCAA Division II delegates overwhelmingly approved a program that will allow Canadian schools to join Division II as early as this June. The program, which was approved by 258-9, could lead to Canadian schools competing in D-II starting in the 2008-09 school year. Six Candaian schools have discussed joining the NCAA, including Simon Fraser University, which was in the NAIA for more than 30 years before many of the schools it competed against joined D-II. Some of the schools want to offer full athletic scholarships, which isn’t allowed in Canada.
