Connecticut: Connecticut Extends Dyson’s Suspension

Connecticut Extends Dyson’s Suspension: Connecticut sophomore guard Jerome Dyson will remain suspended for another 30 days because he failed a drug test ordered by the Huskies’ athletic director. The Huskies suspended Dyson and sophomore guard Doug Wiggins when police cited them for possession of alcohol by a minor. Police also found marijuana near their vehicle. Coach Jim Calhoun said the school’s AD called for the drug tests for Wiggins — who passed the test — and Dyson. In addition, the AD leaked the information about the marijuana, which the police did not file charges for during the incident last week. Dyson is Connecticut’s leading scorer. He averages 14.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. [1/31/08]
