Illinois Center Leaves Team: Illinois center Brian Carlwell has left the basketball team and hopes to transfer to another school to resume his college career, coach Bruce Webber said. The 6-11 sophomore spent most of his career at Illinois on the injured list. He missed part of the season last year after being involved in a drunk-driving accident in which he was a passenger. Carlwell, who suffered a knee injury in November and hasn’t played since, appeared in 29 games for the Fightin Illini. [2/22/08]
