Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Quarterfinals: Junior guard Eric Maynor scored 19 points to lead No. 1 VCU to a 57-46 win against No. 9 Towson. He helped the Rams pull away from Towson in the second half after the Tigers had cut a double-digit lead to four. Senior guard Nathan Mann broke a 60-60 tie with seven seconds remaining by hitting a three-pointer at the end of the shot clock to give No. 5 William and Mary a 63-60 win against No. 4 Old Dominion. The Tribe will play VCU in the semifinals.
No. 2 UNC-Wilmington avenged a loss to No. 7 Delaware in the teams’ only regular-season meeting in an 82-59 quarterfinal match up. The Seahawks had five players reach double figures, led by senior guard Daniel Fountain’s 18 points. Senior guard Folarin Campbell, one of No. 3 George Mason’s Final Four-seasoned players, hit several critical free throws in the final minutes to keep No. 6 Northeastern at bay in a 63-52 victory.
