CAA: Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Semifinals

Championship Week 2006
Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Semifinals: No. 5 William & Mary continued its great run in the tournament, as Laimis Kisielius hit a leaner from the right block with three seconds left to give the Tribe a 56-54 win over No. 1 VCU. Both teams traded runs in the second half, with the Tribe riding the play of Kisielius, who finished with 23 points and six assists, and Danny Sumner, who had 19 points and seven rebounds, all along. VCU made clutch shots to tie the game twice in the final minutes before Kisielius’ heroics. Junior guard Eric Maynor scored 16 points to lead VCU.

The Tribe will take on No. 3 George Mason and make it an all-Virginia final, as the Patriots’ tough defense was too much for No. 2 UNC-Wilmington en route to a 53-41 win. George Mason held the Seahawks to 28 percent shooting, including just under 22 percent in the second half, to win despite making just four field goals in the latter stanza. Folarin Campbell scored 15 points to lead the Patriots (22-10), who advance to the title game for the second straight season. Will Thomas had six points and 14 rebounds. UNC-Wilmington (20-13) was led by T.J. Carter’s 16 points and got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Vladimir Kuljanin. [3/09/08]
