Sun Belt Conference Tournament Semifinals: No. 4 Middle Tennessee State pulled off an 82-71 upset of No. 1 South Alabama that might deliver two bids to the Sun Belt Conference. South Alabama has a solid at-large profile that might steal an NCAA Tournament bid from one of the fringe bubble teams. Junior guard Kevin Kanaskie led the Blue Raiders with 23 points and 10 rebounds in the upset. The Jaguars failed to get consistent scoring from anyone not named Demetric Bennett. The senior guard led South Alabama with 32 points. The Blue Raiders will play No. 3 Western Kentucky in the championship. The Hilltoppers beat No. 2 Arkansas-Little Rock 70-55 to move within a game of the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore forward Jeremy Evans led Western Kentucky with 16 points, his second best game of the season. The Hilltoppers led by eight at halftime but broke open the game in the second half, leading by as much as 19 points. [3/10/08]
