Pac-10 Conference Tournament Opening Round: No. 9 California slipped past No. 8 Washington 84-81 to setup a quarterfinals game against No. 1 UCLA in a rematch of last week’s thriller in Los Angeles. The Bears fell behind by 10 points after halftime but used a 14-0 run to grab the lead, then fought off the Huskies down the stretch. Sophomore guard Patrick Christopher led the Bears with 25 points, and sophomore guard Ryan Anderson added 22 points and 16 rebounds.
No. 7 Arizona waxed No. 10 Oregon State 87-56 to move into the quarterfinals against No. 2 Stanford. The Wildcats blew open the game early and led by nearly 40 at halftime, then cruised throughout the second half. Sophomore forward Jordan Hill led Arizona with 16 points. [3/12/08]
