Southland Conference Tournament Semifinals: No. 7 Texas-Arlington continued its run in the Southland Conference Tournament by beating No. 3 Sam Houston State 72-66 to earn a spot in the championship game. The Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field, and junior forward Anthony Vereen came off the bench to lead the team with 20 points.
The Southland Conference Tournament championship will feature a No. 7 seed and No. 5 seed after No. 5 Northwestern State upset No. 1 Stephen F. Austin 69-66. The Demons rallied from 17 points down in the first half to shock the Lumberjacks. Junior forward Trey Gilder led Northwestern State with 22 points. [3/14/08]
