Mississippi State: Stroud, Former Mississippi State Star, Dies

Stroud, Former Mississippi State Star, Dies: W.D. “Red” Stroud, a former Mississippi State player, has died from leukemia at 66. Stroud was a member of the 1963 team that left Mississippi to play against an integrated Loyola team in the NCAA Tournament – something segregationists in the state did not want them to do. Stroud averaged 15 points a game for the Bulldogs and was the fourth best free throw shooter in school history. He was elected into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
