To help promote the goal of a nonprofit organization, Samaritan’s Feet, several coaches will go shoeless during games in the next week and a half. IUPUI coach Ron Hunter started the trend last season after the nonprofit asked Hunter to go shoeless in coordination with an effort to collect 40,000 pairs of shoes. By the time Hunter stepped barefoot onto the court against Oakland, Mich., the charity had received 140,000 pairs of shoes. This year, the organization seeks to hit the 1 million mark and has enlisted the support of Butler coach Brad Stevens, South Dakota State coach Scott Nagy, Indiana State coach Kevin McKenna and Detroit Mercy coach Ray McCallum, among others.
