SoCon: The Curry Show Rolls to the Semifinals

(1S) Davidson 84, (4N) Appalachian State 68

As usual, junior guard Stephen Curry dominated a Southern Conference opponent, posting 43 points against No. 4N Appalachian State in No. 1S Davidson’s 84-68 win. Curry was 5-of-10 from three-point range and 16-of-18 from the free throw line. The Mountaineers kept it close for a while, but turnovers and poor shooting hurt them. Appalachian State had 20 turnovers and shot only 36 percent from the field.

No. 3S College of Charleston will look to take out Davidson again after the Cougars manhandled No. 2N Western Carolina 67-48 in the quarterfinals. Charleston drained 10 three-pointers and held the Catamounts to 34 percent shooting. Sophomore guard Andrew Goudelock hit four three-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points. In two meetings with Davidson during the regular season, the Cougars lost at home by four and beat the Wildcats by two on the road.

(1N) Chattanooga 79, (5N) Elon 78

No. 1N Chattanooga survived a blown 15-point lead against No. 5N Elon to win 79-78. Goffney led the Mocs with 18 points.

(3N) Samford 77, (2S) The Citadel 67

No. 3N Samford pulled off a mild upset of No. 2S The Citadel, winning 77-67 in the battle of the Bulldogs.
