Metro Atlantic: Siena Cruises to Championship Game

(1) Siena 80, (5) Fairfield 65

No. 1 Siena moved closer to a second straight MAAC title by beating No. 5 Fairfield 80-65 in the semifinals. Five Saints reached double figures in scoring, led by sophomore guard Clarence Jackson with 16 points. Jackson hit five three-pointers for Siena. Junior guard Ronald Moore added 12 points and 14 assists to power Siena’s attack.

(2) Niagara 93 (3) Rider 89

Senior swingman Bilal Benn helped No. 2 Niagara end a double overtime thriller with a 93-89 win against No. 3 Rider by stealing the ball from the Broncs’ Ryan Thompson with less than two seconds remaining and the Purple Eagles up by two. Junior guard Tyrone Lewis was the offensive hero for the Purple Eagles, as he drained a tough three-pointer with two seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. Senior center Benseon Egemonye led Niagara with 21 points.
