Although only three Thunderbirds made more than one basket in the game, No. 5 Southern Utah beat No. 4 IUPUI 53-48 to move into the semifinals against No. 1 North Dakota State. Junior guard Davis Baker led Southern Utah with 25 points and hit four three-pointers. The Thunderbirds pounded the Jaguars inside, out-rebounding them 34-18.

No. 3 Oakland shot better than 60 percent from the field and cruised to a 75-62 win against No. 6 IPFW. The Golden Grizzlies advance to the semifinals against No. 7 South Dakota State. Sophomore forward Will Hudson led five Oakland players in double figures with 15 points.
