MEAC: Hampton’s Defense Proves Too Much for Delaware State

(7) Hampton 51, (10) Delaware State 32

No. 7 Hampton’s defense suffocated No. 10 Delaware State, which could muster little offense in a 51-32 beatdown. The Pirates held the Hornets to 26 percent shooting in the game and dominated in rebounding, with a 29-20 advantage. Darrion Pellum had 12 points to lead Hampton, which will play No. 2 South Carolina State Wednesday. The Pirates won at home and lost by three at the Bulldogs this season.

(8) Florida A&M 71, (9) Howard 58

No. 8 Florida A&M was on fire from long range, hitting 11-of-16 three-pointers in a 71-58 win against No. 9 Howard. Senior guard Lamar Twitty led the Rattlers with 20 points and hit all three of his three-point attempts. Florida A&M will play No. 1 Morgan State in the quarterfinals. The Rattlers split the two regular-season games with Morgan State.
