Summit: North Dakota State Takes the Summit League by Storm

(1) North Dakota State 79, (5) Southern Utah 67

In its first year in the Summit League, No. 1 North Dakota State is a game away from earning its first trip to the NCAA Tournament after beating No. 5 Southern Utah 79-67 in the semifinals. Senior guards Mike Nelson and Ben Woodside combined to scored 43 points to lead the Bison, who shot 51 percent from the field. North Dakota State will play No. 3 Oakland in the championship game. One of the Bison’s two losses in Summit League play came at Oakland in their first game of 2009.  

(3) Oakland 74, (7) South Dakota State 56

Senior guard Eric Kangas was 9-of-14 from the field to lead No. 3 Oakland to a 74-56 win against No. 7 South Dakota State. The Golden Grizzlies shot 53 percent from the field and held the Jackrabbits to 41 percent. Junior guard Johnathon Jones, the nation’s leader in assists, had another effective day leading the team’s offense, dishing out 10 assists.
