No. 1 Gonzaga slapped around No. 2 St. Mary’s 83-58 to make the case for a higher seed in the NCAA Tournament. Senior forward Josh Heytvelt led six Bulldogs in double figures with 17 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Micah Downs played with abundant energy, racking up 12 points and 12 rebounds. St. Mary’s guard Patty Mills continued to struggle since his return from a broken hand. He finished with five points, three turnovers and only one assist. Mills was 2-of-16 from the floor and missed all seven of his three-point attempts.
