No. 8 UC Davis sophomore guard Mark Payne sank two free throws in the final 10 seconds to give the Aggiesa 69-68 win against No. 5 UC Irvine. Senior guard Vince Oliver led the team with 20 points. UC Davis will play No. 3 Pacific Thursday.
(7) Cal State Fullerton 59, (6) UC Riverside 46
No. 7 Cal State Fullerton got 37 points from senior guard Josh Akognon and beat No. 6 UC Riverside 59-46. Akognon hit nine three-pointers and was 14-of-22 from the field. The Highlanders couldn’t keep up with Akognon’s torrid pace, shooting only 31 percent from the field and making only six three-pointers. The Titans advance to play No. 4 Santa Barbara.
