Big 12: Baylor and Oklahoma State Take Down Top 2 Seeds

(9) Baylor 71, (1) Kansas 64

No. 9 Baylor kept its season alive with a 71-64 upset of No. 1 Kansas. The Bears jumped out to a hot start and led by double digits for much of the first half. Kansas tightened the game and led by three with eight minutes to go when Baylor went on a 10-0 to reclaim the lead. Sophomore guard LaceDarius Dunn was spectacular from long range, hitting 6-of-11 three-pointers to finish with 24 points.

(5) Texas 61, (4) Kansas State 58

Neither team led by more than six points, and senior guard A.J. Abrams hit a tie-breaking three-pointer with two minutes remaining to help give No. 5 Texas a 61-58 victory against No. 4 Kansas State. Junior center Dexter Pittman continued to have a monster tournament with 19 points and 20 rebounds, including seven offensive boards. Texas will face No. 9 Baylor. The Longhorns won both regular-season games against the Bears.

(7) Oklahoma State 71, (2) Oklahoma 70

No. 7 Oklahoma State sophomore guard James Anderson drained two free throws with two seconds to go, giving the Cowboys a 71-70 win against No. 2 Oklahoma. Sophomore forward Blake Griffin was huge for the Sooners, with 17 points and 19 rebounds. But he also had five of Oklahoma’s 19 turnovers, which helped keep Oklahoma State in the game despite shooting only 42 percent to the Sooners’ 48 percent. Senior guard Byron Eaton led Oklahoma State with 16 points, one of five Cowboys in double figures.

(3) Missouri 81, (11) Texas Tech 60

No. 3 Missouri derailed the Mike Singletary show in the second half of the Tigers’ 81-60 win against No. 11 Texas Tech. The Tigers are the highest remaining seed in the Big 12 Conference Tournament after Kansas and Oklahoma lost. Singletary scored 43 points Wednesday to help the Red Raiders upset Texas A&M. He finished with 17 points against Missouri, but the Tigers wore down Texas Tech, which shot only 36 percent for the game. Senior forward DeMarre Carroll led Missouri with 19 points.
