Pac-10: Sun Devils Complete Season Sweep of Arizona

(4) Arizona State 68, (5) Arizona 56

No. 5 Arizona did nothing to improve its NCAA Tournament outlook by losing to No. 4 Arizona State 68-56 in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Tournament. Sophomore guard James Harden torched the Wildcats for 27 points and eight rebounds. Arizona State’s defense held Arizona to 36 percent shooting from the field.

(1) Washington 85, (9) Stanford 73

No. 1 Washington’s defense pressured No. 9 Stanford into 18 turnovers and nearly 50 missed shots in an 85-73 win. Senior forward Jon Brockman led the Huskies with 20 points and eight rebounds. Washington will play Arizona State, which the Huskies beat twice already this season.

(6) USC 79, (3) California 75

No. 6 USC obliterated No. 3 California on the glass for a 51-25 rebounding advantage that helped the Trojans slip past the Bears 79-75. Junior forward Taj Gibson was unstoppable with 21 points and 16 rebounds, including nine offensive boards. Freshman forward DeMar DeRozan also had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

(2) UCLA 64, (7) Washington State 53

No. 2 UCLA built an 18-point lead early in the first half and cruised to a 64-53 win against No. 7 Washington State. Senior guard Darren Collison led the Bruins with 15 points and five assists. UCLA’s defense held Washington State to 30 percent shooting.
