No. 3 Prairie View made seven free throws in the final minutes to produce a 65-60 win against No. 6 Mississippi Valley State. The Panthers did not hit any shots from the field during the final four minutes, giving the Delta Devils a window of opportunity to rally. Junior forward Darnell Hugee, junior guard Chris Jones and freshman guard Tim Meadows all scored 13 points to lead Prairie View. The Panthers advance to play No. 2 Jackson State, which Prairie View beat by 11 at home and lost by a point on the road.

No. 4 Arkansas-Pine Bluff held on for a 62-61 win against No. 5 Southern after the two teams failed to score any points for five minutes down the stretch. In the final minute, leading scorer Gavin Montgomery hit three free throws to give the Golden Lions the win. The sophomore guard finished with 14 points in the game.
