(4) Temple 55, (1) Xavier 53
No. 1 Xavier failed to make a field goal for nearly seven minutes late in the second half, and No. 4 Temple escaped with a 55-53 win. The Owls will play No. 7 Duquesne, which means that the Atlantic 10 might become a three-bid conference, taking away another bid from a bubble team. While Xavier struggled, senior guard Dionte Christmas took over for Temple, scoring 10 of the Owls’ last 11 points. He finished with 20 points.
(7) Duquesne 77, (3) Dayton 66
No. 7 Duquesne got 24 points from senior guard Aaron Jackson and freshman guard Melquan Bolding to lead the Dukes to a 77-66 win against No. 3 Dayton. Jackson and Bolding hit all 10 of the Dukes’ three-pointers and shot 68 percent from the field. Duquesne can claim the Atlantic 10 championship by avenging a five-point loss to the Owls in Pittsburgh in mid-February.
