Big East: Syracuse Plays 7th OT in Past 24 Hours

(1) Louisville 69, (4) Villanova 55

Trailing by eight at halftime, No. 1 Louisville dominated the second half to win 69-55 against No. 4 Villanova. The Cardinals’ defense stymied junior guard Scottie Reynolds, who scored only two points on 1-of-6 shooting. He missed all three of his three-point attempts. Junior swingman Earl Clark led Louisville with 17 points and seven rebounds.

(6) Syracuse 74, (7) West Virginia 69

No. 6 Syracuse played its seventh overtime in the past 24 hours in a 74-69 win against No. 7 West Virginia. Freshman guard Devin Ebanks hit two free throws for the Mountaineers at the end of regulation to force overtime. However, Syracuse jumped out to a six-point lead in the extra session and milked it — in only one overtime after playing six last night against No. 3 Connecticut — for the win. Junior guard Eric Devendorf led the Orange with 23 points. Sophomore point guard Jonny Flynn continued to play like the Energizer Bunny, showing few signs of fatigue in a 15-point, nine-assist performance. He has logged more than 100 minutes in the past 26 hours. The Orange can complete a memorable run in the Big East Tournament with a win against Louisville in the championship game. The Cardinals won at Syracuse by 10 in January.
