In a season in which the top five teams were separated in the standings by only a game, it’s not shocking that No. 5 Akron walked away with the MAC championship in a 63-55 win against No. 3 Buffalo. Akron opened the second half on a 10-2 run to stretch the Zips’ lead to 14. Buffalo came no closer than nine points the rest of the game. Sophomore forward Brett McKnight led Akron with 16 points. The Zips shot better than 55 percent from the field to get past Buffalo.
