Sophomore guard Phil Turner gave No. W3 Mississippi State the lead with a little more than a minute and a half remaining on a three-pointer, and Turner hit four free throws down the stretch to give the Bulldogs a 64-61 win against No. E1 Tennessee. Both teams were sloppy in the closing seconds, committing three turnovers in two seconds. Turner led Mississippi State with 12 points, and junior forward Jarvis Varnado had 10 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. Mississippi State’s SEC championship guarantees the Bulldogs a trip to the NCAA Tournament when the Bulldogs likely were not an at-large team.
