(10) Michigan 62, (7) Clemson 59
No. 10 Michigan frustrated No.7 Clemson’s shooters, leading to Terrence Oglesby’s ejection, and had just enough offense in the second half to squeak by with a 62-59 win. The Wolverines held Clemson to 33 percent shooting and 5-of-22 shooting from beyond the arc. Oglesby was 1-of-8 from the field with only three points in the game when he threw an elbow, and the referees ejected him after reviewing the play. Oglesby’s ejection occurred in the midst of a 16-2 run by Michigan after halftime that stretched the lead to 15 points.
However, Clemson rallied on the strength of solid pressure and strong half-court defense. The Tigers held Michigan to only three made shots away from the foul line during the final 14 minutes. But sophomore guard Manny Harris led Michigan’s solid free throw shooting by going 6-of-6 from the line. Harris led Michigan with 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Freshman guard Zack Novak hit a free throw with 12 seconds to go that gave Michigan a three-point lead. Senior swingman K.C. Rivers missed a three-pointer in the corner at the buzzer that would have tied the game for Clemson.
