In a defensive battle befitting both teams’ playing styles, No. 5 Purdue outworked No. 12 Northern Iowa for a 61-56 win. The Boilermakers survived a seven minute stretch in the second half during which they failed to make a field goal. The Panthers trimmed the lead to four when junior guard Keaton Grant drew a crucial charge with 30 seconds to go. The Boilermakers made 6-of-8 free throws to seal the win. Sophomore guard E’Twaun Moore led Purdue with 17 points.
