(11) Dayton 68, (6) West Virginia 60
No. 11 Dayton won an ugly slugfest against No. 6 Virginia 68-60 to pull one of the few upsets in the NCAA Tournament so far. The Flyers held West Virginia to 37 percent shooting and constantly frustrated the Mountaineers’ ball handlers with tight pressure. Senior guard Alex Ruoff had only nine points for the Mountaineers in 24 minutes because of foul trouble. The two teams combined for 44 fouls, and the Flyers made just enough free throws to turn back West Virginia. Sophomore forward Chris Wright led the way for Dayton with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
