After jumping out to a 23-9 lead, No. 6 Marquette looked ready to cruise to victory against No. 11 Utah State. But the Aggies answered with a 19-6 run to cut the lead to one, and neither team led by more than five the rest of the way in the Golden Eagles’ 58-57 win. Junior forward Lazar Hayward hit five free throws in the final minutes, twice giving Marquette a one-point lead and then extending a three-point lead to four with only five seconds to go. Hayward led the Golden Eagles with 26 points. Marquette got 19 points from the foul line to help make up for a poor shooting game from the field and three-point line.
