Southern Miss coach Larry Eustachy returned a bonus he earned because the Golden Eagles met attendance goals for this past season. Eustachy said he did not feel that he should receive a bonus during an economic recession when the team finished only 15-17 this season. Injuries and other issues limited the Golden Eagles to seven scholarship players, but Eustachy hopes the team will perform better next season, according to Sports Illustrated.
Along with returning starters R.L. Horton and Sai’Quon Stone, who was injured this season, Eustachy will have Southern Cal transfer Angelo Johnson in the fold and four others who redshirted this season for various reasons.
“It will be the best talent that’s been here in 10 years, however it shakes out,” Eustachy said.
