As reported from multiple sources:
Texas: Junior forward Dexter Pittman
Pittman, who is 6-foot-10 and about 300 pounds, averaged 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds last season as a junior. Those numbers jumped to 15.4 points and 10.4 rebounds in five games in the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments, raising questions about whether he would leave early.
Purdue: Sophomore forwards JaJuan Johnson and Robbie Hummel
Johnson averaged 13.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and just over two blocks per game this season to help the Boilermakers reach the NCAA West Regional semifinals.
As a freshman out of Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, Johnson started half of Purdue’s games last season. But he gained 10 pounds in the offseason, then asserted himself this season after forward Robbie Hummel injured his back.
Hummel also wrote by e-mail that he will return for his junior year, meaning two of the three sophomores who received postseason accolades have confirmed they will play for Purdue next season.
Hummel averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds per game for Purdue this season. He was the Big Ten’s preseason player of the year, but he suffered a hairline fracture in his lower back early in the season, and it affected his play. He still was named third-team All-Big Ten, despite missing five games.
Syracuse: Sophomore point guard Jonny Flynn
Flynn won Big East Tournament MVP despite the fact Syracuse did not win the title game against Louisville. He averaged 19.8 points and 9.3 assists in four games at Madison Square Garden. Flynn is averaging 13.5 points and seven assists through his first two games of this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Clemson: Junior forward Trevor Booker
Booker, whose brother Devin will be a freshman for the Tigers next season, averaged 15.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots per game as a junior. He was a first-team All-District selection by the USBWA and All-ACC Defensive Team honoree as well by the ACSMA.
