USC coach Tim Floyd will remain with the Trojans after flirting with Arizona and Memphis. The Wildcats offered their open position to Floyd, who seriously considered the position before opting to remain in Los Angeles. Floyd discussed his thoughts during a press conference today, which is available at the Trojans’ Web site.
I left Arizona yesterday and got back here last night and visited with my family and talk to our players. I am so glad that I went because what it did was reinforce for me what a special situation I have here at the University of Southern California.
Floyd said he respected the tradition of success at Memphis and Arizona, but he said the Trojans were developing into an elite program. Floyd added that he wants USC to become a dominant force in both basketball and football like Florida, Texas, Ohio State and Oklahoma have done in recent years.
