North Carolina freshman forward Ed Davis will not enter the NBA Draft despite speculation that he could be a top five pick. NBA scouts have expressed a lot of interest in Davis, who averaged 6.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as the Tar Heels’ sixth man. His meteoric rise in draft projections mirrors the path of former North Carolina sixth man Marvin Williams, who entered the draft in 2005 after the Tar Heels won their last championship. Davis explained his reason for returning to school to Scout.com.
“I am returning to North Carolina for my sophomore season and will not apply for the NBA Draft,” Davis told Scout.com. “I love being a student at Carolina and playing with my teammates for Coach (Roy) Williams. I’d like to play in the NBA someday, but my family and I don’t think I’m ready to take that step. I’m glad this decision is behind me so I can focus on the rest of the school year and get ready to be a better player next season.”
